Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the leader of Germany during the second world war. He also was the main reason for the war to even be started. He rose to power by leading the National Socialist German Workers Party. He told the people of Germany that they were not at fault for the problems that were happening. He wanted to expand the German boundaries until they were everywhere. Hitler planned on taking over the world and started taking over the parts of Europe that had previously been part of Germany such as parts of Czechoslovakia and Austria. While he was trying to take over the world he also showed his racism and wanted to get rid of everyone who was not a 'perfect Aryan'; had blue eyes and blond hair. He was defeated by the Allies. When he saw the end coming he married his mistress and committed suicide. |
Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) during World War II. Stalin helped change the Soviet Union from a poor country to a industrial and military superpower. While doing this he also slaughtered millions of his own people. When he was rising to power he either killed his enemies/rivals or had them sent to labor camps. Although Stalin worked with the United States during World War II, after the war things were tense between America and the Soviet Union. The time when things were strained are known as the Cold War. |
Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini was the dictator of Italy during World War II. He came into power shortly after World War I, preaching Fascist ideas. He became prime minister by 1922 and helped make Italy prominent in the Mediterranean area; however, he also exhausted his military resources by the late 1930s. Mussolini worked with Hitler during the second World War to try and help him boost his own leadership, although it backfired and he was killed soon after Germany surrendered in 1945. |
Emperor Hirohito
Hirohito was emperor during World War II and is often viewed as a leader without any real power. During World War II the military controlled a lot of what Japan was during instead of the emperor. This is even how he portrayed himself. After 1945 i which Japan surrendered, he truly became someone with no real power. Hirohito became emperor in 1926 and continued until he died in 1989. He did not have much involvement considering that at the time Japan was practically controlled the military instead of the actual leader. |
